Paper-Spray Ionization Mass Spectrometry (PSI-MS) Systems for Field Deployment

Paper-Spray Ionization Mass Spectrometry (PSI-MS) Systems for Field Deployment

Lancet Analytics is  developing a portable, cost-effective, and rapid method for the detection and analysis of various toxins in field environments using a Paper Spray Ionization Mass Spectrometry (PSI-MS) technique.

The value proposition that Lancet Analytics brings to the market is allowing aerosols and surfaces to be sampled and directly analyzed with very simple sample preparation. Designed from the ground up to identify heavy molecules for analyzing biological samples in applications relating to proteomics or metabolomics-based medical testing in remote settings, screening rural populations for diseases, and to monitor workers’ exposure to harmful contaminants and environmental or occupational hazards.

Technical Validation

In our technical validation phase, we identified critical areas where our PS Ion source can be effectively integrated with portable mass spectrometer applications. By leveraging low-cost PSI technology, we demonstrated that our PS Ion source can be seamlessly adapted to existing commercial mass spectrometer systems, enhancing their portability and efficiency. Our team, comprised of key personnel with robust expertise in electronics product validation and compliance testing, played a crucial role in ensuring that the integration met all necessary standards. This validation not only confirmed the technical feasibility of our solution but also underscored its potential for widespread adoption in various commercial and DoD applications.
